Let’s be honest, us introverts have it a lot harder than the extroverts of the world. At times, we can experience crippling social anxiety, shyness and just a general feeling of wanting to be alone in a world full of other people.

Whilst there are countless advantages to being an introvert, it can sometimes feel as though the world is against us and we can’t see a way out of our isolated introversion.

Here are some life hacks for introverts that will help you improve your life and make the most of your quieter side:

1. Travel Alone

Whilst this life hack literally applies to everybody as everyone should travel alone at least once, I am aiming it at introverts as they may be the only ones comfortable enough being alone to actually do so. Travelling alone has countless benefits – there’s nobody else’s agenda to worry about, you can go where you want when you want and it gives you plenty of time to be pensive and ponder the great wonders of the world.

2. Trust Your Intuition

Introverts are very connected to themselves and have a great deal of self-awareness. Along with that comes a great intuition. Trust your body – if you have a strong gut feeling about something, chances are you’re right.

3. Don’t Be Defined by Your Introvert Status

Along with introversion and extroversion, there are also ambiverts and extroverted introverts. Whilst some people are very strongly introvert or extrovert – most fall somewhere along a spectrum. It’s okay to like to be alone sometimes but also feel energised going to a party. You don’t have to fit into any one category and it’s okay if the lines are blurred a bit.

4. Introversion Isn’t an Excuse

Whilst it may seem easy to blame your homebody routines on your introvert status, it shouldn’t be an excuse for you to avoid social situations. Push yourself to your limits, get out of your comfort zone every now and then and socialise with other people.

Once you force yourself to make an effort with others, it becomes easier. Being an introvert doesn’t mean you must spend time alone and never be around others – it just means you can, but you need time alone to recharge afterwards.

5. Learn the Value of Rewards

Rewarding yourself can be one of the best life hacks for introverts when pushing yourself to explore your introvert status by spending time with others. Encourage yourself to visit friends, go to a new class or just find a way to meet new people – and reward yourself afterwards.

That new book you’ve been waiting for the perfect night in to begin reading? Promise yourself you will start it right after you go for coffee with old friends – trust me, you’ll enjoy your alone time so much more after you’ve pushed yourself out of your introvert comfort zone.

There are so many life hacks for introverts that you can use to make your life better and easier. Whether it’s pushing yourself out of your comfort zone so you can socialise with others, or whether it’s honing in on your own intuition and trusting your gut, being an introvert has a massive array of hacks attached to it that you can take advantage of and improve your life today.
