New data from the NASA’s Fermi Space Telescope show that the center of our galaxy produces far greater amounts of high gamma ray energy, the origin of which can probably be explained by recourse to the mysterious dark matter.
A team of scientists led by astrophysicist Dan Hooper of the U.S. Fermi National Laboratory (Fermilab) said that the new study of gamma radiation in the galactic center is the strongest evidence that at least a part of this powerful energy emission comes from the invisible dark matter. This unknown substance that makes up (more…)
Physics is a science with has brought plenty of applications in our daily life. And even despite the fact that as a school lesson it looks like Chinese arithmetic to many people, in fact it is not that difficult to understand! Just one small and simple experiment, such as the one presented in this post, which anyone can do at home, not only will surprise you with its results but will also demonstrate and help you better understand some of the basic physical laws.

We often say that we understand the nature of someone as soon as we hear him speak. Indeed, according to a new study published in the online resource «PLoS One», something like that can happen since it takes less than a second to figure out the personality of a person based only on his voice.
It is known that the voice transmits sensitive signals that betray gender, age, and even the physical condition or certain personality traits. However Dr Phil McAleer and his colleagues from the University of Glasgow decided to find out if we can get an immediate impression by a person’s voice. (more…)
Are we alone in the universe? This question has occupied our imagination for more than one hundred years. Is our planet the only miracle and home for living organisms among all other planets and galaxies? Many scientists believe that the discovery of alien life is a matter of time.
“We will find life in space during this century“, confidently said Dr. Seth Shostak, the head of the research project SETI , speaking at the meeting of the European Commission considering innovative development.
“There are more than 150 billion galaxies in the space, which are somehow different from our own. Each of these galaxies contains (more…)
