Mystics claim that the world of our dreams can be a connection to other worlds, inaccessible to our waking consciousness, so it is not a coincidence that since ancient times, it was believed that dreams of dead people are an important sign that must not be ignored.
The dead come to our dreams with a message, advice or warning that should be understood in order to avoid unnecessary troubles and keep ourselves from making mistakes, according to mystics.
Psychologists believe that dreams about relatives or friends who have passed away are just a manifestation of depression or feelings of guilt towards them.
However, let’s take a closer look at the mystical point of view and try to understand what messages can be carried by people who are now alive only in our memories and can talk to us only through our dreams.
Modern dream books often do not pay enough attention to many important nuances: what the dead people look like in our dreams – dead in the grave, alive and happy, or they come to life right before our eyes, or maybe we just do not remember in our dream that this person passed away long ago.
Interpretations of dreams about deceased people
It is commonly assumed that the dream of a dead person (talking to him, listening to his advice, and doing what he tells) is a sign of unexpected news or changes in life. Christian dream interpretation books sometimes explain that we have such kind of dreams when the soul of our deceased relative or friend has not found peace yet, and advise to hold additional ceremonies at the funeral and repose of the deceased (for example, if in the dream the deceased asks for water).
Pagan interpretations of dreams that have come down to us recommend to implicitly obey everything that the dead person asks for, in order to avoid the anger of the gods. And while dreaming dead people may be scary, sometimes it can be a good omen.
In case if in your dream a dead person comes back to life, it may mean that something lost will soon return (money, a thing, or even social status).
An English dream book interprets the dream of dead people as a sign of good events in the family, such as a wedding or the birth of a child or anything happy and prosperous. Another dream book says that seeing a dead relative in a dream before the wedding is a warning against the union. This dream indicates the unhappy marriage and warns that the children born in it will be sick and weak.
What about the dreams of a deceased relative?
At this point, there is no definitive interpretation, and you should always take into account many confounding factors. But most interpretations concerning dead relatives (especially parents) appearing in a dream indicate a warning of trouble.
Sometimes the dreams in which a sleeping person communicates with their deceased parents, help find inner peace, confidence, and even affect the success in business and the well-being of the family.
It is also believed that it is impossible to influence the dreams in which we see our dead loved ones. Mystics claim that even if you manage to do it, it is absolutely useless, since it is not us who call them in, it is them who decide to come to us.

I have had several dreams about my grandpa who passed more than 4 years ago now. He practically raised me, and all of my dreams of him are in the house I grew up in which was taken by foreclosure after he owned for 40 years. In my dreams I am always surprised that he is alive again, and i hug him, and just love him so much. But it is always a typical kind of day when he was alive. There is no advice, or anything of real significance. Not sure what it means. Even tho it makes me sad and miss him so much, i am always happy to remember him in my dreams in the home of my past.

I came to this post because I had a very similar dream about my grandfather who passed away 6 years ago. Since his death, I never had any dreams about him and it surprised me that it took 6 years for me to dream about him. I had a dream that I was outside my house in the back yard where we usually had our family bbq’s and as I turned to the entrance of the yard he stepped in and gave me a smile and I was SO Happy he was alive again and I ran and hugged him. He looked about 10-15 years younger than when he passed. in the dream we did not have any words and as soon I hugged him, I woke from my dream.
I want to know if my dream has any meaning, like I said I never had a dream about my grandfather before, not even when he passed away.
I dreamed o my bff on the same night she passed away, I woke up to the news and was in shock and obviously very upset. She was 23 and she died of an overdose. Recently in July one of my friends passed away . We weren’t super close but we have talked about super personal stuff together and have laughs . Then I moved away . We didn’t speak since we were always Facebook friends and I read an article that she died in a roll over accent caused by speeding and wearing no seat belt. I moved back down that week and went to her funeral . They had a open casket . Ever sense that day I’ve been having dreams about her . Nightmares should I say . But last night was horrible . I couldn’t go back to sleep . I was at my old school tht I graduated from and in the art department there were beds in the rooms . For some reason I was sleeping in one of those beds and I woke up next to her girlfriend and my deceased friend . She was dead in the bed and it was like she was soaking in a lake cuz she was drenched and had weeds on her. Her girlfriend said u need to move her to the other room she’s wet . I was freaking out the whole school was dark and scary . I got out of bed freaking out and I called my boyfriend and he came and moved her . Some how after I was dead and I was in heaven but I was evil see what ls weird about tht was I knew I was being evil but I couldn’t stop it was like someone was in my body killing ppl and animals. I ended up being able to control myself for a minute to explain to God what was going on and she said , “I knew you weren’t acting right” and she sent me back . I was back at the school laying in a bed and a man I knew was on his knees next to me . I had a chefs knife in my hand . I went to stab him and I stopped my self and said take this from me and kill me . Hurry before I can’t control not killing u . He put it to my head and started pushing it through . And I physically in real life felt tht pain . So I told him can’t u get someone else’s to kill me with . He said yes and he ran and I said hurry . My body was trying to get out of that bed until he came back and he put a smoother knife to my throat and I was terrified and he started slicing my throat . I felt it and I was telling him don’t u know where the artery is to kill me quit . And he vont. Slicing and then I woke up .
My Mom died on January 2nd of this year…She had a severe case of dementia. We have a great relationship together. Mom has found me three times in my dreams. It’s awesome because she’s not sick anymore… We don’t really talk much because we don’t need to. I get very happy when I’m doing something in a dream and I here her happy voice calling out my name to come give her a hug…
That’s just a regular dream sweet heart.. Your brain and pain receptors are very powerful tools of the human body. Your brain and nervous system reacted to this dream in a very normal way. Our dreams can be so like like that if we perceive falling down then the nerves will actually send pain signals to the brain for a brief moment. Once our eyes see that this is a false narrative then the pain subsides quite quickly.
I had a dream this morning that I looked in the mirror (while choking on a pink and purple plastic treasure chest) the inside of my mouth was covered in large filled in black dots, chunks of skin was missing from my gum line and there were steaks of black (what looked like charcoal dust) across my face. I had a dream I was with my Dad he passed in January we were talking about playing cards. While talking to him a Uncle who had passed 25 years ago was telling me that my Uncle,my Dad and him played cards everyday. I woke up scared.
What happens when a dream if you see your own died body is digging by you
While I was working overseas , I kept having dreams of ole friend of mine she appeared dressed in two different dresses. First dress was white ,the second was in a reddish orange dress. Each time she was talking to me , never could hear what she said. The deal is this woman died 2 years earlier, I had no ideal she was dead, thought maybe I was maybe to look her up when I got back to the states. When I finally got around to finding her, went to her mother’s house . That’s when I found out from her mother that she had died 2 years earlier…. I should have told her mother, that I saw her in my dreams for some reason I don’t know….
Today is Sept 5 2016 (Labor Day). My aunt past away on Thursday of last week she was in a coma. She had a lot of health issues but was very happy with life. Last night I had a dream in which I was on the train and she came in and gave me a hug and told me “thank you for seeing me at the hospital. I’m sorry you had to see that” and I said it was fine becuz she was family. She smiled and told me something I laughed. Then out of no where the tears started pouring out my eyes and I told her would be alive right now, why didn’t you take your medication. And she cried and hugged me and perished. My mum passed away 3months ago. We were very close.. Its the first time ive dreamt about her since she passed.. Even though i think about her and cry for her everyday.. Anyway the dream was at first we was in the hospital where she had passed away.. But she was alive looking realy confused n flipping a sandwhich over and over with a realy confused look on her face.. Usually in my dreams my dad and brothers dont say a word, they just smile… But just a few days ago I dreamed that my brother who passed in Feb 2014(2 weeks before my son was born) he was speaking to me and explaining to me about his traumatic death and how many times his heart stopped. I was half asleep said oh grandma next thing I know I’m at my old house with my family. Parents and grandparents have passed. My dads mouth was moving he said does grandma ever come to visit. The next thing I know my parents room was lighting and my grandmother appeared. Us kids were hugging her then we were sitting I asked her if she was taking me with her she said she wanted to I told her I didn’t want to leave my husband she said she has no control over that. My father passed away in 2008 at the age of 59 from stomach pains that the dr misdiagnosed and ultimately aided in his death. He died in three days and I never was able to speak to him.
A lot of my dreams tend to be where he is alive and I know he was dead. He will either have some horrible relationship with my mom like they are divorced and he is not the loving man he was in life. This last dream he was there and his “nurse” took him to “therapy”. I saw them in the van. And then it was almost a day later in the dream and he was no where to be found. I spent the last of the dream trying to find him and questioning this nurse on where he was after his appt.

One of my uncles died years ago. The first few years of his death I had dreams about him talking to me about current situations of his family, daughters to be specific. Sometimes he would even rise from the coffin just to hug me when I told him how much I missed him. Then a grandaunt who was close to me did few years after and same usually happened in my dreams. It was like their way of contacting me was through my dreams. Last year my grandfather died and my dreams about him were normal. Nothing special and very rare. Then one night I had a dream about my uncle arriving home with gifts which he usually did when he comes for a visit. It was as if he was alive but I knew that it had been a while since I last saw him and that I greatly missed him. It was raining but I ran to him and gave him a hug then when we let go of each other I saw the face of my grandfather smiling at me instead. He led me inside the house where I found a coffin and inside was my grandmother who is still alive. I was devastated and started crying then suddenly my grandmother came to me and hugged me. My tears wouldn’t stop. I kept telling her not to go and not to leave me. It seemed that everyone around us did not care or could not see us as they stayed seated near the coffin of my grandmother while I continue weeping hugging her. When I woke up I was not surprised to find that I was also crying.
It was the first I had a dream like this. Normally, I would have a dream of just one of them and never everyone at the same time. Can you please tell me what this means?
Hi I lost my grandad around 33yrs ago I have always thought of him and miss him very much as he was a very loving and kind person. I was only 7yrs old when he passed away but I remember it like yesterday, I am 40yrs old now and last night I dreamt that he was here with me it was so clear I spoke to him and told him he had all his lovely thick hair he was sat at a table in a chair, he got up told me he loved me and missed me and gave me a big hug. This is the first time this has ever happened what does this mean dreaming like this.
I know I cannot stop thinking about it, but it makes me so happy he did this for me.

My Mum died a month ago. I dreamed of her last night. The strange thing was she looked as she did 15 years ago. My brother who is living was there to but he looked as he did when he was 11 or 12 years old. I told mum I was sorry how I spoke to her and bullied her to eat. She said It was ok and she was fine. Before I knew my uncle died, I had a dream, or real, chat, he came to say goodbye as he has just died, and look after myself, next morning I got a call from my mum to tell me much uncle passed away. I dreamed last night of my grandmother who died recently like before 20days ago at that I was not there I am living another country. I saw her at her house she was walking around the house and talking with me happily. she was looking bright with light can’t explain in proper way but so was look white light on her face. My mother in law passed away in 2011 and after few days I dreamt about her sitting in my house and I woke up from my dream. I. The past five weeks I’ve dreamt about deceased family members – 4 dreams in total – my mom, sister, brother-in-law, and dad. Each dream they are asking me to with them. When it was my mom and sister, my sister said “Is she coming?”. My mom answered with ‘no, she’s not ready yet’. When I woke up my heart was pounding,and I was very upset. Another, My brother-in-law, saw me walk into my mothers house, and tried to talk to me, but as I went around the corner to go up some steps, he tapped me on one shoulder, when I turned he wasn’t there, so I turned the other way and he was trying to pull me down the steps saying ‘no, this way’. I was screaming, My brother-in-law was a jokester, therefore the tapping me on 0ne shoulder and being at the other. I can’t remember what the dream was about my father. I also dreamt of a living brother, who I do not have a relationship with, he was dressed/wrapped all in white, and I was laying in a bed, and he had an evil, sinister look and I screamed ‘no, Bill, go!”. In our teens he attempted to molest me, and I could never tell my mother. I screamed aloud, with this dream as well, and my husband shook me to stop. What is going on. I’m so upset, and tearful all the time with these on my mind, and don’t know what to do. Please help me or tell me where I can get help with these. Thank you.
My grandfather passed 11/11/12 After a stroke and fighting for his life partially paralysed and unable to speak for 6 excruciating months.
I never had a dream about him or any deceased relatives. In my dream we were at some sort of celebration and my grand father kept coming and going I knew he was gone but I didn’t feel the need to tell him. I kept hugging him and grabbing his face telling him he looks beautiful and well and that he has put on a little weight that he looks much better. He smiled at me so happy every time he left he walked into a wall or his closet and was gone.
In my dream there was a pool with 2 diving boards and I went for the lowest which was 100mts and I got the courage to eventually jump off and it felt forever to fall and it felt forever to get out. Some how I was out of the water and back with my grandfather he re appeared he started trying to shake hands with everyone because he was so happy and that was his form and nobody acknowledged him, I could feel things started to spin for him and I felt his anxiety and confusion. I grabbed him by the face I looked into his eyes and I said don’t worry don’t get anxious, Nonno I have to tell you something you passed away but instead of saying years I said months ago. Time paused and I mentioned my family’s name by name of member saying that we miss him, He looked at me and laughed and looked around in disbelief and started saying I’m not dead and waved his arms in the air and pulling a silly face and it seemed odd to me he did that it was way out of character it was more like my father(his son) behaviour and then it was my dad after I had thoughts of his mannerism.
I don’t understand what it means and I woke up crying I don’t know how to interpret it please help me understand to put my mind and emotions at ease.
My Mom passed away in 2010, prior to her passing, she had our family cat with her for some years, she kept her company, the other night i had a dream that i found my mother laying on the floor by the kitchen table, face down dead, i recall she was wearing black, at this time i was kind of noticing the cat was not acting herself, and something was not right with her, two days later i had to put my cat down, i am thinking that dream was my Mother coming to me, to for warn me, that our kitty was very sick, the area where i seen my Mother dead on the floor, was right next to the area where the kitty use to lay, I hope i am making the right connection, this is not the first time something as such, has happened to me, i lost all my family back too back, and prior to it, again it all came in a dream, why do i only dream of when something bad is going to happen?
Last night I dreamed my newly deceased 15 yr old nephew. I was crying for him beside his casket and him in it. He came behind me then smiling and talked to me. I cried telling him “but ur dead jr I just want u back or take me with you please!” He just kept talking to me awhole lot and smiling the whole time vut no matter how hard I try to remember what he was saying to me,I cant remember. Hey my older sister passed away 5 years ago. The morning after she passed away, I saw her, it was just for a second and before I could react she was gone. Felt like she was just letting me know she was okay.
I always saw her in my dreams way up to when I was pregnant with my son, she visited me in my dream and I happily told her I was pregnant and she said “I know” and I was like “how do you know!?”
Then I didn’t see her again for a long while, I’m now pregnant again and I dreamt last night that I was some sort of event outdoors in a huge woodland park, my partner and son came with me but were off somewhere together. I was sat talking to a famous person about reading Japanese, then suddenly my sister showed up annoyed. She looked angry and she snapped at me “I don’t have long, so hurry up!” I was so surpised to see her, I stopped talking immediately and followed her. She was in no mood to talk. I kept staring at her as we walked, she led me through a building/corridor, then back outside, to a bench. On the bench was a pillow and a quilt. “Here” she said. I lay down no questions asked and dozed off soon as my head hit the pillow. Awhile woke up, on the bench and she wasn’t there anymore.

I saw my helper. I don’t know whether it was a cream or not because I had not slept completely. He worked at my place almost for a year. That was 2015 and he passed away in 2016. And I came to know recently. He was really young and was concerned about his family, specially about his mother.

I do believe all dreams are messages. I always see dead people I know in my dreams. The last one I see was very confused. I told him he died and he don’t belong in this world anymore and that he needs to move on… but he didn’t know how to move on, so he was asking me if I can help him to move on. I told him I didn’t know how to help him move on but he have to try ; Then he said ok and left. I have so much experience of seeing them always coming to me for help. Sometimes I wander if I have some kind of gift that I don’t know of. I even see a little white boy came to me. He took me to a place and was showing me evidence of who kill him but I couldn’t understand him… then in the dream a lady was mad at him saying why did he came to me and not her because she live next door to him. I’ve seen a lot of those… I have two children. The first one ,even before I knew what sex she was I saw me holding her and she was mine. The same way I saw her in my dreams is the same way she looks when she was born. The the same thing happens to my second daughter. It’s amazing how I actually see them before the came out. I dreamt that I heard someone saying to me they getting ready to set you up. I woke up that morning and I prayed . I rebuke every works of the enemy. Went to work The next day my boss said her debit card was missing. She didn’t tell me that she think I took it but her action says otherwise. Long story short I realized she was just trying to get rid of me because she wanted to hire someone else who she can pay less than what she’s paying me. Enough said she told me I have a special gift of seeing things.

Once we have dealt with his estate and what not…moving on…OUR dead friend walks into a room and we are all shocked at this “I know he’s dead in the dream and in real life…BUT why does he come back in the dream after dying??

my baby dad passed away a month amgo on january 3 17 and im 5 months pregant ever since his death i never dreamed of him only had memories of what we been through he was shot and killed in from of me and my 2 year old son it was devestated but lastnight i had a dream of him that i was talking to him also it felt real i wanna talk to him tell him i miss him so much my son misses him i wish there was a connection i dream about holding him kissing him what does that mean his name is isidro lopez hes 36 since his death his x gives me heal and trying to harm me of not having my baby anything
Last night I dream of dead people first I was supposed to help dig dirt off a gravey I start but stop while I was leave I saw a dead man that was burn I hold my head straight so he would not see me I reach this place an a dead girl come to me an we start to talk I know her mom an we where catching up on old time an I was asking her about every body that die an she say every body was ok an then she say when your dead u live a better life than when u where alive the conversation was so good an relaxing but I don’t know what the dream mean
I have dreams here and there about my step dad he passed away in November 2016 ( I don’t consider him my stepdad because he raised me my whole life) and me and him had a really tight bond, and in my dreams I’ll go to the spot he died (in my grandmas house) and I can feel him there and he’ll start to move items around and he’ll talk and I can see his figure but not him as a whole individual, in a couple of my dreams he looked healthy and he would take me places and we’d go do stuff like we always did. I don’t know why but when I wake up I can barely remember anything he said, I had just woke up and was looking for a site because I just want to know what is happening? I’ve talked to my mom about it before and she’s told me she hasn’t had 1 dream of him and my little sister has had about 2 but I have had about 5-6 I also had a dream that my grandma was dying in the hospital from a illness and the next day when I seen her I hadn’t told anyone about my dream and she told me she might have cancer so I think that’s maybe a sign but I just want to know what’s happening because it really stresses me out and its taking my life into a dark bottomless pit..
I keep dreaming about my friend that recently passed away. The first dream i cant remember now i just know i dreamed of him. Second dream i was about everyone finding out he wasnt dead, but instead he was in jail because he commited a murder and he would be in there for the rest of hs life. It was better for everyone knowing he wasnt dead, now we could at least visit him. We were all happy and sad im some way. I remember hugging him so hard and just telling him how great it was seeing him and knowing he wasnt dead. But in all my dream he never spoke. He was alwayd a quite one i dont know if that has something to do with it. Third dream i cant remember. Last dream was last night. I was with some friends and i remember walking alone by a funeral of someone else, an old lady. The fact of passing bh someones funeral took me back to the day of his funeral, i shed dome tears but kept walking. After that i remember trying go find a store where you get to put a picture of your loved one that passed away in a t-shirt or a hoodie. Where i live it is s very common thing to do. After someone passes away. I dont know what all these dreams mean. I dont feel scared! They make me feel sad abd sometimes it makes me think he needs help or he wants to tell me something. Before he died i had a dream about my mother dying. And i felt sad for days and i felt like something bad was going to happen and a week later i find out he passed away. He went missing for two weeks before his death. They found him floating in the water near the place he was last seen. When theh found him he had been dead for two days. So his body was just floating in the water for two days. Sometimes i think its not him whos dead. I feel he is still alive somewhere. Maybe it is because we didnt vet t see him one last time at his funeral. It was closed cascket . I would like to know why i am having these dreams. Can anyone help? Thanks.
