In our society, the word “laziness” has negative connotations. Words that are associated with the word “lazy” are not too attractive: boring, uninteresting, passive, inactive. No surprise that many people want to know how to overcome laziness.

Laziness is not even considered a personality trait. From the standpoint of psychology, laziness is a lack of motivation. Very often, it can also be a sign of depression or a lack of energy.

The causes of laziness can be:

  • Fatigue and a lack of emotional or physical energy.
  • Conflict of our “musts” with our “wants” – when we do things that don’t seem attractive or interesting to us.
  • A subjective feeling that the task you are performing is useless and doesn’t make sense.

Laziness can complicate our lives. When you find it difficult to perform the most basic chores and tasks, such as cleaning and washing dishes, it is time to think about how to overcome laziness.

So, here are five proven ways to overcome laziness:

1. Start off small.

Starting with the most trivial things, you help yourself “warm up”, cheer up, and gain strength for larger, more significant achievements. This may be a shopping trip to the nearest store or doing some physical exercise.

2. Reward yourself.

The method is very effective in the struggle with laziness! Determine a specific amount of work that needs to be done or set a goal to finish a specific task, and then set a reward, such as having some coffee with a candy or a 15-minute break.

3. Divide the goal into steps.

When the goal is tangible and achievable, the way to it takes much less time. Any task can be broken down into smaller subtasks. To increase the efficiency of this method, combine it with the previous one – do not forget to reward yourself after achieving each sub-goal.

4. Make up a schedule.

Another effective way to overcome laziness is setting a clear time frame: 5 minutes on checking the mail or 20 minutes on the social networks, two hours on performing a specific task. The more your schedule, the better this method will work.

5. Motivate yourself.

One of the ways of motivation is to visualize the consequences (both positive and negative) of a done or non-done task. This will help you not only defeat laziness but also set the right priorities to finally get the job done.

    I always feel my self too lazy but when i see my books infornt of me i think that today i will do some study but after some time my head is paining and i sleep so what should i do to preparemy self for studies
