N, N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), an endogenous molecule present in the cerebrospinal fluid of humans, was first synthesized in 1957 by Stephen Szara and is considered one of the most powerful psychedelic substances, if not the most powerful ever.

DMT is present in some varieties of mimosa and acacia, and many other plants. The extraction is possible with some solvents such as alcohol, gas oil, hexane, or by distillation. In the Amazon Basin, some tribal peoples have the tradition of using plants containing DMT for magical rituals.

DMT is produced spontaneously by the human brain.

It could be established that it is one of the most “fleeting” substances that have ever been observed in the human body since it remains in the circulation only for 5 minutes.

It has been scientifically demonstrated that the pineal gland (a small endocrine gland in the human brain, also called “third eye”) is able to produce some amounts of DMT, especially at 3-4 a.m., during the REM sleep phase.

In ancient cultures and Eastern philosophy, it has always been considered that the awakening of the “third eye (i.e. the pineal gland) can lead to very high states of consciousness paired with profound spiritual experiences.

What are the effects of DMT?

There have been experiments and studies on DMT by Terence McKenna, a prominent figure in the psychedelic revolution and the author of the extravagant Stoned Ape theory you can read about in this article.

In many interviews, he speaks of a short trip of 20-30 minutes, which brings the mind into a dimension of almost total transcendence, and it seems that it comes from other worlds that pop into our reality, talking and interacting with us.

A few seconds after taking the vapors, you are having a distinct feeling of “being suddenly gone” to a place that is completely different from your actual physical surroundings. Then you experience the first effects of DMT:

  • vivid visual hallucinations,
  • bright colors,
  • altering perceptions of everything you see,
  • a hum/whistle at high frequencies.

After this first state of “semi-consciousness”, it takes you to a higher level, in which the body “sleeps” and you have visions (even if you have your eyes closed) of perfect geometric figures moving like brightly colored phosphorescent fractals.

This phase is characterized by the feeling of being in at least a three-dimensional space where objects and non-terrestrial entities may occur and interact with you. This experience may appear very energetic, fast, and confusing. Within ten minutes, the hallucinations lose vividness, it passes back to the “semi-conscious” state and within 10-20 more minutes, you return to the normal state.

Many of the people who have voluntarily submitted to testing DMT reported that they found themselves in “flying disks” where they spent “about three minutes of our time” among strange “elf machines”, operated by “little people” with gray skin, big eyes and huge skulls.

Rick Strassman’s ideas

Rick Strassman in his book «DMT: The Spirit Molecule», claims that DMT, which is one of the most powerful psychedelic drugs, might provide access to the other planes of existence.

According to him, they are always there and constantly transmit information. But we cannot perceive them because we are simply not designed for this: our ‘program’ keeps us tuned to the standard, mentally ‘normal’ channel. Just a few seconds are needed for the spirit molecule to reach the brain and change the mental channel, opening our minds to other planes of existence, states Strassman.

What if DMT can lead us to parallel worlds?

Theoretical physicists assume that the existence of parallel worlds is based on the phenomenon of interference, writes Strassman. One of the demonstrations of this phenomenon is what happens to the light beam when passing through a narrow hole in the cardboard.

Various rings and colorful edges that appear on the screen on which the light falls are not just the outlines of the cardboard. As a result of more complex experiments, the researchers concluded on the existence of “invisible” light particles that collide with those that we can see, refracting light in unexpected ways.

Parallel worlds interact with each other when interference occurs, says Strassman. According to the theoretical hypothesis, there is an unimaginably huge number of parallel universes, or multiverses, each of which is similar to our own and is subject to the same laws of physics.

This is the reason for the notion that it is not necessary that there is anything particularly strange or exotic about different universes. In theory, they are parallel due to the particles that form them and that are located in different positions in each universe.

David Deutsch’s research

Strassman refers to the British scientist David Deutsch, a leading theorist in this area and author of «The fabric of reality». He has corresponded with Deutsch discussing the likelihood that DMT can alter brain function so as to grant access or knowledge about parallel worlds and the physicist doubted this possibility because it would require «quantum computing».

This phenomenon, according to Deutsch, “could distribute components of a complex task among vast numbers of parallel universes, and then share the results. One of the conditions required for quantum computing is a temperature close to absolute zero.”

That is why the physicist finds prolonged contact between universes in a biological system unlikely.

However, Strassman notes that since DMT is the key substance that changes the brain’s physical properties so that quantum computing may take place at body temperature, establishing contact with parallel universes could be possible.

Final thoughts

DMT is for sure one of the most mind-blowing psychedelic substances. The hallucinations it creates are extremely odd and totally out of this world. The intense effects of this psychedelic drug have given food for all kinds of theories trying to explain this bizarre psychedelic experience.

Considering all the above, some people assume that with the help of the effects of DMT, it might be possible to take a glance into other dimensions or worlds and pertain to another plane of reality, which is different from the physical reality of the waking state of your mind. Of course, there is no solid evidence for this hypothesis, but it’s certainly a very interesting idea to ponder about.

ow my brain, but does that mean that in a later generation once we reach some basic organic computing we could attempt to “upgrade” it with DMT?

it’s a very interesting thought! who knows, perhaps it will indeed happen like this

“Rick Strassman in his book «DMT: the Spirit Molecule», claims that DMT, which is one of the most powerful psychedelic drugs, can provide a reliable and regular access to the other planes of existence.”

Is it really necessary to lie? You can discuss the potential of DMT for access to possible other planes of existence without directly misinforming your readers about an authors words. That’s pretty poor form to do.

    1. Anna

      oh really?
here is a citation from the book (you can check it out, it’s on the page 315):

DMT provides regular, repeated, and reliable access to ‘other’ channels. The other planes of existence are always there. In fact, they are right here, transmitting all the time! But we cannot perceive them because we are not designed to do so; our hard-wiring keeps us tuned in to Channel Normal.

before accusing others of lying, make sure that your accusations have a base in reality.

Refutation (hopefully thorough enough, feel free to email me with questions regarding physics, neuroscience and psychedelics at [email protected])

The human brain evolved recently, within the last 20 million years the neocortex expanded to it’s current capacity of 30,000 cortical columns, that gooey folded memory system that sits atop the limbic system enabled mammals to spread across the globe. The neocortex is a digital-analog memory system. It is a digital system, because the axons either fire or don’t, 0 1 behavior required for any digital communication. And an analog system because it takes scalar values such as particular concentrations of neurotransmitters that either inhibit or excite the transmission of information in the brain.

The many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics means that, every particle in every atom in the universe behaves as a cloud of probability, thus that particle or wave could be anywhere that it would be likely for it to be, what that means is that it could be anywhere in the universe.

This happens because of Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, you cannot know both the location and the speed of a particle, because measuring it would interfere with its quantum wave function, quantum interference thus collapses the wave function defining the particle’s location.

The reality that we are experiencing now is happening because every particle in every atom in this room and in your computer and everywhere else in the universe is interacting with every other particle in every other place in the universe.

That’s the reason why near zero entropy levels are needed for quantum computing. Near 0 degrees Kelvin, electrons, protons and neutrons start behaving very weirdly, as if they where in two places at the same time, because they really are not points but fields or some people would say plank length strings or branes.

Dymethyltryptamine is a psychoactive drug that acts as a Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor A, binding to MAOI-A receptors in the dendrites, that means that it prevents the reuptake(cleansing) of several neurotransmitters such as serotonin involved in happiness, and blood pressure regulation, melatonin the dreaming hormone, and epinefrine and norepinefrine the superman hormones more commonly known as adrenaline and noradrenaline which trigger the body’s fight or flight response decreasing blood flow to internal organs and prioritizing brain and muscular function(because that’s what you’ll really be using when faced with a bear).

So here’s what’s happening to this guy’s brain while on psychedelics, his awareness of the environment is immediately and exponentially aroused, because he is in a state of fight, his brain goes into lalaland where there are no rules or filters and where his ideas are manifested into the physical world through his visual cortex, he’s immediately doubly happy because of all the serotonin floating around his bloodstream and because his brain is now connecting his ideas to his perception of reality.

That’s why he believes he’s looking at parallel universes, while in reality his brain is making up this “alternate” reality right on the spot, literally mixing and matching patterns that it has stored, because that’s all the brain is, a memory system, who’s output is you and me.

Think about it this way, how can it really be an alternate reality when it’s happening to you right there on the spot. Psychedelics do open up your mind, but not to some higher plane of existence, they open up the patterns you have amassed from your own existence for you to examine them at leisure.

What the many-worlds interpretation really brings to the table isn’t that there are other universes, it is that our universe is unimaginably more vast than we ever thought, because if every particle is everywhere at the same time and the reality that we are experiencing is really only one of the myriad of realities that can possibly exists, our time here is much more valuable because only we can experience it our own way.

That means that this guy’s book is just religious, new age, trippy, make believe, he doesn’t understand reality, much less alternate reality or his own brain and he is pursuing an agenda. Is something I see repeated over and over again, his job is to get people to believe that somehow modern science magically validates their beliefs about death and the afterlife, it doesn’t so stop fooling yourselves.

Not true bud, from someone who has done DMT. The spiritual journey is FAR from your imagination. If it was up to the ‘user’ why are so many DMT trips close and/or identical in nature? As impressive as your grasp of science is, I recommend reading both The Source Field Investigations (scientific studies showing a 3rd unseen force in our universe) and also the Thiaoouba Prophecy by Michel Demarquet. I think you’ll quickly come to different conclusions.

    Acuna you are obviously gay.

  6. Sovereignty

A very important piece of information. Thanks for the great article.

“They use their golden pituitary and pineal (DMT) glands and we do not.”

Speaking of his peers in power, Woodrow Wilson said “They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.”

For those of us constrained to a 3 –D space perspective, what Woodrow is really saying here is that somebody with a vastly higher brain bandwidth is watching over the earthly activities from a higher dimension and from this all pervasive perspective, check-mates us at every turn. What distinguishes us from their super-states of consciousness and our consciousness lobotomy is they are using their pituitary and pineal glands and we are not.

Earthlings must come to grips with the extent of the reality model and kick up our brain bandwidths to get into the cosmic game of life or be its consequences. Operating at our limited consciousness level, will not do the job nor will waiting for some saviour to come and fix the problem if we are to be realistic.

The only solution is to form a functioning relationship with reality and seriously kick up the brain bandwidths with glandular rejuvenation and consciousness boosting hormonal secretions. Only DMT driven bandwidths can provide the individual with the innate resources to hang with or compete with what Woodrow speaks of.

These entities have been using these bandwidth enhancers for millions of years and will continue to rule over us like the victim sheep we are unless we too “Kick it up”.

Yes DMT provides a dimensional door way access to a wider dimensional field and you are not in the cosmic game of life until you start to utilize your own on board DMT chemical resources.

  7. Lizard King

    David Tallman,

How does someone so simple make his way onto a page like this?

Must have clicked by accident, huh?

  8. Jeremiah

Yes, there is a parallel universe, but not what you describe.

It is spiritual and is inhabited by God and His angels, and satan and his angels. If you are seeing into this universe, you’d better reconsider dosing your mind with hallucinogens, because satan uses them as access to your mind. H does not have your best interests in mind.

    1. J Blaze

Thiaoouba Prophecy. All you need to KNOW is found here… This is WAYYYY to simplified *let alone incorrect*

  9. Chris

…or maybe you just get really high?

  10. Depizza

I agree with acuna, if you look in the vedic scripture they describe the different and many layers of this universe and their composition and their thickness or width and it is highly unlikely that one can pierce through all these layering as we are not meant to. Off course nothing is impossible, but the purpose of life is not to go to a different universe, which by the way are all part of the material plane, but to go back home to the spiritual world where we belong and exist eternally engaging in loving service to our creator! KRISNA!

  11. Howard Lewis

DMT connects one with a disjointed view of reality, only useful as a temporary respite from the daily grind. To take DMT or LSD to gain insight into anything beyond one*s own ignorance is an exercise in vanity. For entertainment uses ONLY.

  12. Laughing Cat

@Howard Lewis. Have you ever taken DMT? I’m guessing not, because to call DMT “entertainment” is frankly ludicrous and it is certainly no respite from the “daily grind”… as Terence McKenna often said, DMT is the most powerful and bizarre experience a human can have this side of the yawning grave… entertainment it certainly ain’t…

  13. kevin s

salvia divorinum is more messed up.
and it definitely made me realize that DMT is just an effect a chemical has on a brain, just like salvia. Just like lsd. It’s just extreme–NOT inter-dimensional.

3d structures (our minds–our THOUGHTS) are physically incapable of existing outside of dimensions of than our own. Just ask science.

  14. Anasazi

DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) is a naturally occurring chemical in the human body that is secreted by the pineal gland in our brains and peaks when we are in a deep sleep along with other chemicals such as melatonin and serotonin.

  15. Jean

I experienced something a bit similar to the parallel universe . I was very sick in hospital with intraveneous high end pain pain killers( Fentanyl). Whenever I would feel like vomitting I would be given intraveveous Cyclizine. The mixture of the two had the following effect. As I closed my eyes I would see myself in the same hospital bed but the environment will be changed . All the staff and patients in the other beds were new people I have never seen before. On all the machines computer screens there was Australian aborigene drawings. All the colours were vivid and highly contrasted like painted with fire.My hearing would stay in the present reality. I remember asking a nurse where I was , he replied but I could not hear as my hearing remained here. The place was like a tidy mess. As if there was a lack of space and machines and medecInal stock was everywhere. The funny thing is that I could switch between the two realities by opening and closing my eyes. I was not asleep but wide awake.

  16. RENEG4DE 4NGEL

Having encountered the same entities on multiple “journeys” and having had those entities show excitement at my arrival, display hospitality, and share knowledge and insights with me is enough for me to laugh at anyone who thinks it’s just a hallucination. Some people only believe what they see, and plenty others refuse to believe even after they have seen.

Am ready to be a test subject…..anywhere….

I find it quite amusing, but yet at the same time very depressing, that when scientists stumble across a wondrous revelation (either by accident or design) such as a insight into undeniable energies that are beyond our comprehension. Their experience and discoveries are a knowledge that could very well release us from that which vainly imprisons us in our own rational minds. The first thing they do is to defile the purity of such a gift and assume that they are capable of deciphering what they see as a puzzle. Like rats in a maze trying to figure out how to find the cheese, not knowing that there could be a much bigger picture.

It’s often occurred to me that the scientific discoveries that are made are indeed a direct correlation and indicating the insignificance of our assumptions. The more we find out the less we know!

I have personally used and experienced DMT many times, as well as MDMA and many other so called “recreational drugs”.
DMT blew my socks off…..!! Thankfully for only about 15-20min. My first experience was so overwhelming and beyond belief that it literally made me forget to keep breathing. I was totally convinced that this is what death must feel like. After the initial fear wore off I experienced an overwhelming sense of total freedom and knowing, you could say it was a almost God-like feeling. It released me from my mortal chains of worrying about what the meaning of life was, why am I here, was there a God, why do we exist? It was like the energies from within my soul / my spirit / my life force / my sense of being alive and being human flowed out from me and became one with the very vivid visual energies flowing and swirling around me. It kind of looked like fractal “pix-elation” or like everything was made up of brightly coloured “Lego blocks”.

As sceptical about it as you probably are, I too had my doubts about my “trip” into “lalaland”.

This should get you scientists going. I’ve experienced this in almost the exact same way, every single time ………20-30 times now over the years!!!

Perhaps take a leaf out of the book of Alexander “Sasha” Shulgin’s life’s work and experience the spiritual energy within brain chemistry.

Either that or maintain the mentality which reminds of “Jesse Pinkman” the drug dealing Meth cook from Breaking Bad.
    “IT”S SCIENCE BITCHES!!!”

  19. JP

Some of you should do a bit more research. Comparing DMT to Salvia? Yes it’s true drugs act on certain neurotransmitters so does food so does anything you consume even experience. I’m also aware that if your not an analytical mind by nature, psychedelics might not be that special.

Rick Doblin of the MAPS foundation (legal psychedelic scientific research) mentioned a recent study on the Rogan podcast a little while back. Psychedelics were thought to speed up the mind when they first were discovered. They now have proven with brain scans that the mind actually does the opposite under classic psychedelics. The filtering mechanisms we have slow down. The brain is in a constant state of chaos, perhaps we can’t see these things in everyday reality because of this. Think about meditation. You can produce a natural psychedelic state by being in the present and quieting your mind and ego.

I’m 29, and missed the 60s. But I know Nixon did a stand up job putting fear into the hearts of people and making the use of sacred plants on a level with murder. It’s only in the past few years I’ve seen progress in research with this stuff again. You can thank MAPS and a newer FDA then they had in the 60s for that. Anybody who has ever really had a mystical experience meaning ego death etc.. Knows what the importance of these plants are and how they can help us embrace reality not escape from it.

comment #15 haven’t laughed that hard in a while, recreational is certainly debatable

  21. Thinker

It is so unlikely that DMT is making your brain capable of doing quantum computing at body temp. More so that it makes you trip your balls off.

    1. Mads

We live in a quantum ruled universe and this has an effect on everything even the brain. even tho the other dimensions thing is right. the brain is affected by the rules of this universe witch include the quantum laws. to simulate quantum computing in a machine is a whole other thing witch need coolant amongst other environmental attributes.

  22. nobeatingroundthebush

Chemical molecules can trigger experiences in the brain but yet it can only be temporary and once the chemical molecule is metabolized u are back to where u were or even be much the worse….

External stimulation can get u just that far….there will be limitations.

When all the DMT and the zillions of other stuff is inside u….internal stimulation is what u need to check out….

Try Real Authentic Yoga (Not the commercial ones that are bandied about in the United States) and if u r sincere enough u may experience ALL EXISTENCE as it were.

  23. VRstronaut

This is it. Under effects of Spirit Molecule right now. This is it.

Go inside the mind, not out. Experience all of the realities, not just our current one.
