While THC used to be all the rage, both scientists and consumers worldwide have become extremely intrigued by the effects CBD has on the brain and the body for a number of great reasons.

For instance, CBD’s side effects are not nearly as worrying as THC’s. But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves and talk about the ways CBD affects the brain and the amazing healing properties of this substance.

What Is CBD?

First, let’s explain what CBD actually is. CBD belongs to a group of cannabinoids and is one of the basic active ingredients of cannabis. It was discovered in the 1960s by a group of Israeli scientists.

CBD is a cannabinoid, which means that it enters brain receptors and creates various sensations. However, it doesn’t directly bind with the receptors and provides them with a substance. Instead, it stimulates them to work on their own and help the body create its own cannabinoids! As a result, in a way, the brain is responsible for its own doing rather than an external substance.

What is more, this cannabinoid is also great when combined with THC, providing the so-called entourage effect. This is a phenomenon of its own and the reason why medical marijuana has become legal in a lot of countries. The correct ratio of CBD and THC can indeed do wonders.

Now, let’s take a look at all the other CBD effects on the brain and the reasons why it helps humanity fight their issues and health hazards.

Fighting Alzheimer’s

CBD has excellent neuroprotective features, and it has shown some great results in diminishing the effects of Alzheimer’s. Similarly, it could be used to fight other neurological diseases, too.

Anxiety disorders

It could be said that anxiety is one of the diseases of the modern age, as more and more people become increasingly stressed and are more exposed to factors contributing to triggering anxiety disorders. CBD can help treat certain disorders with success, as well as depression.

Epilepsy

As we have already mentioned, CBD has shown excellent qualities in treating neurological diseases. It can also help reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures.

In short, among the effects CBD has on the brain are this substance’s antiseizure properties. What is more, its side effects are much lower in comparison with similar epilepsy treatments. In addition, there is ongoing research on CBD’s possibilities in treating psychiatric disorders, too.

Cancer treatment

You have probably heard of this one, as a lot of cancer patients worldwide are struggling for CBD usage approval in their country. This fact alone speaks volumes about its usefulness.

Thanks to its entourage effect, CBD shows great results in treating cancer patients, with only minor side effects. According to research, the cancer sufferers who use CBD have greater chances of survival. When fighting such a destructive disease, any help is welcome, and if it reduces cancer cells, even more.

Analgesic properties

Another way CBD affects the brain has to do with its wonderful redeeming qualities – it allows the body to feel less pain. The pain relief option is extremely useful for a number of conditions and injuries. For example, the elderly population suffering from arthritis could experience less inflammation.

Even more stunning is the fact that multiple sclerosis patients can find great comfort in CBD since it could help them minimize the spasms triggered by this autoimmune disease. The spasms these people feel may be so frequent that they turn into chronic pain. Fortunately, this cannabinoid is there to the rescue.

On that account, people with chronic pain absolutely adore CBD because it has fewer negative effects compared to the THC, or even traditional medicines.

CBD does not give you the side effects such as THC (that “high” feeling and loss of control). It is quite possible to go around your daily errands pain-free and with a clear head.

Even better, subjects using this wonderful cannabinoid did not have to receive a higher dose over time, as is the case with other painkillers when the body gradually becomes resistant.

Enjoying the amazing CBD benefits with no “high” effect

We have already mentioned it briefly, but let’s emphasize this fact one more time. According to a Psychology Today article, CBD does not equal marijuana.

This substance does not have psychoactive effects, despite the fact that it helps us feel much better, relieves pain and inflammation, and repairs neural connections. It can be obtained from marijuana, or it can be produced synthetically. That’s the reason why CBD is legal in all 50 states – it does not get you “high”.

Nevertheless, like any medicine, it can have some side effects and it is to be used responsibly.

To sum up, CBD is one amazing cannabinoid with so many healing properties that it becomes a subject of new research every day. Therefore, we can expect to read about some more CBD effects on the brain and the body in the near future.
