If you’re struggling with inner peace, it’s hard to find a place of sanctuary. However, Jiddu Krishnamurti quotes can help.

It’s not easy finding peace sometimes. Just when you think you’ve got everything under control and rolling smoothly, something blindsides you, knocking you out of your state of pure love. I understand this feeling oh so well.

So, I found a few quotes, Jiddu Krishnamurti quotes, that can actually give you a sense of inner tranquility.

So, who is Jiddu Krishnamurti?

Born in 1895, Indian philosopher, Jiddu Krishnamurti founded several schools on spirituality and it’s a connection with all other aspects of life. He focused on nature and how it molded the constructs of how we understood so many things.

Krishnamurti was raised under the instructions of the Theosophical Society in Madras. He held no affiliations with philosophy, religion or nationality, and traveled around the world speaking to groups. Although he did have critics, he had that many and more followers.

He wrote several books and was also the influence for schools based on Krishnamurti’s views. Among his many views, his quotes stay with us and bring us revelations we may have never encountered before.

Jiddu Krishnamurti quotes that help you reach peace

I’ve read many quotes in my lifetime. Some of these statements helped motivate me to get things done, and some of them helped pull me from a funk of depression. But finding inner peace is a bit different from that. You need quotes that will help you see life from various perspectives.

Here are a few memorable quotes by Jiddu Krishnamurti to ponder:

1. “You can only be afraid of what you think you know”

There are things we know, then there are things we assume. The things we know may not be pleasant, but we can no longer fear them because they are already done, or already here.

However, what we assume about people or situations can terrify us. This is one reason why assumptions aren’t the best tools to use in life. Think about this.

2. “And the idea of ourselves is our escape from the fact of what we really are”

I would imagine that a great number of people in this world have no idea who they really are. So many people wear masks to hide the parts they either aren’t willing to show others or parts they cannot accept about themselves.

We speak in terms like “ourselves” to avoid facing our true inner being. We will always do this until we’re brave enough to look deeper within.

3. “To understand yourself is the beginning of wisdom”

Wisdom doesn’t really have an age, despite what many people may say. Wisdom comes to different people at various stages and ages of life.

Jiddu Krishnamurti reminds us that in order to have true wisdom, we must understand “us” before trying to understand anything else. That just makes good sense.

4. “The ability to observe without evaluating is the highest form of intelligence”

The ability to observe without evaluating the highest form of intelligence.

I can be a judgemental and analytical person at times, but that’s not an intelligent trait, for the most part. But to be able to just sit back and observe people and situations without making any assumptions, judgments, or opinions, lets you see people in their purest form.

This observation is intelligence, and it’s wisdom too. What’s more, simple observation is a sure way to attain inner peace.

5. “One is never afraid of the unknown; one is afraid of the known coming to an end”

I remember so many years of wanting to change my life, and I didn’t because I was afraid. I thought I was afraid of what lay beyond the change. In reality, I was afraid of my comfort coming to an end and ripped from underneath me. Well, I did change, and yes, this quote hits home.

These words from Jiddu Krishnamurti are very true.

6. “The more you know yourself, the more clarity there is. Self-knowledge has no end – you don’t come to an achievement, you don’t come to a conclusion. It is an endless river.”

There will be no day when all is known to you. I’m sorry, it just doesn’t work that way. Learning is forever, basically. Life is endless until it’s over…and this is the only time when learning ends.

7. “When you once see something as false which you have accepted as true, as natural, as human, then you can never go back to it”

You can believe many things that people tell you, but when a truth is revealed to be a lie, you cannot make yourself believe the lie once again.

It doesn’t matter how hard you try to accept what you heard before, the truth has a way of pulling back the veil, ripping it down and keeping the truth visible from then on out.

8. “A man who is not afraid is not aggressive, a man who has no sense of fear, of any kind is really a free, a peaceful man”

Jiddu Krishnamurti describes a powerful truth with this quote. I’ve watched people get angry before, and you can see the fear in their eyes as they rant and rave. It’s like a defensive tactic to keep them from being afraid.

I think that’s what it is. Those who truly do not fear have a calm demeanor and not prone to such aggressiveness.

Find inner peace your way

These quotes by Jiddu Krishnamurti can help you realize many things about yourself. However, only you know the path to inner peace because each of our roads in life is different.

Regardless, reading through some of these quotes can help us stay grounded and remind us of the bigger picture when things get hard. Reference back here to some of these Jiddu Krishnamurti quotes, and let them travel deep within and take root. You will be amazed by their wondrous influence in your life.

Interesting quotes all. The last one is nearest to me. Fear erodes humanity – individually and across populations.

Fear also manifests as other emotions as I spoke about in another reply. Much of the anger you see in people is just fear or offense. pay attention to patterns of anger in those you know. Try to notice the similarities in their environments or situations. Ask yourself, “Hmm, wonder what they are afraid of?”

Fear is a manifestation of some other emotion most of the time. Unless, of course, you can see the great big monster running toward you. Many times fear manifests as anger, shame or confusion.

You learn more through tough love and realizations that when you get sugar poured into your ears. I’ve never learned that much from compliments, although every one of them, mind you, were always appreciated. Building character is much better than reputation.

I cannot agree with number 8. A man without a sense of fear is a dangerous man. Fear can save our life. It is how you deal with fear that matters. It is understanding why the fear exists in the first place. It is knowing there is good and bad fear. It is about eliminating the unnecessary, unhealthy fear.

But, you can also look at fear as the need to make preparations, or the need to protect yourself. Courage is good, but everyone should be honest about any sort of trepidation they are feeling. This helps us make the best next decision. However, fear can come out in toxic ways if you’re not careful, as I mentioned. I’ve witnessed a man scream and run from a place out of “anger”. The truth is, he was afraid to communicate. This man was raised with poor communication skills and raised by someone who felt they were never wrong. His fear of change, fear of confronting issues, and fear of the truth is outrageous. Fear can completely control you.
