You know that sex is good for your health, confidence in your relationship, etc. But did you know that it makes your brain work better?

The more often you have sex, the better and faster your brain works. At least, this is what a recent scientific study conducted at the University of Princeton claims, according to which sex expands the brain and reinforces its synapses (connections between brain cells).

Surveys that were conducted until now have shown that our brain functions get “blocked” when we experience stressful and uncomfortable situations.

Thus, researchers from Princeton wanted to see whether the opposite statement is true: if our brain expands in situations that cause some degree of anxiety but at the same time are enjoyable, such as sexual intercourse.

As a part of the research, scientists conducted a series of experiments on mice. Initially, the researchers divided male mice into three groups: mice that were in daily sexual intercourse with female species, mice that had sexual interaction once every two weeks, and mice that did not have it at all.

The results were impressive: the brain of male mice that had regular sexual interaction grew and synapses between their brain cells reinforced. In contrast, in mice that had no sexual intercourses, there was no change.

This is not the only study to show the link between sex and brain function. In their turn, scientists from another U.S. university and researchers from South Korea performed a series of experiments on rats and mice of middle age and came to interesting results.

Researchers at the University of Maryland found that sexual experience stimulates the development of new neurons in the hippocampus, which is responsible for the transition to long-term memory.

Several tests showed that after a series of sexual acts, the process of neurogenesis in aging rats accelerated, and their brains actually became younger.

However, the suspension of the process of sexual activity slowed down the process of regenerating neurons and all the improvements in the higher brain functions came to naught.

At the same time, a team of scientists from the Konkuk University of South Korea concluded that frequent sex successfully counteracts the negative effects of stress on the brain.

That stress is a major inhibitor of the reproduction of neurons in the brain and sexual acts restore this function.

However, according to recent studies by psychologists at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, pornography adversely affects memory and the ability to multitasking.

The scientists tested the mental abilities of participants before and after showing them pornographic pictures and videos. Most of them showed deterioration of intellectual performance after viewing pornography.

I like so much this researchs that you upload in the site. But one thing I ever miss here, the original reference of the study that you publishes. I believe that a simple link of the papper make the text more interesting for everyone.

    Abraço e sucesso.
