Whose memory is better, male or female? British researchers found that women have more developed memory than men. Perhaps, for this reason, ladies never forget anniversaries and things that happened a long time ago. 🙂

Researchers from Cambridge University tested the memory of 4500 people aged 49 to 90 and found that compared with men, women better memorize information. This statement is also true for the younger generations. It was found that primary school girls learn new material faster than their male peers.

Whose Memory Is Better and Why?

But till now, the scientists are not ready to give an explanation of the exact reasons for this phenomenon. Maybe it has to do with hormonal characteristics of both sexes or the structure of the brain.

In fact, memories of men and women are organized in different ways. In women, the thought process mainly involves the frontal lobes of the brain that are largely responsible for intuition and emotion rather than for logic. Because of this, women better remember information that provokes their feelings and emotions.

Men, on the contrary, use logic in memorizing, and their memories are formed mainly in the analytical centers of the brain. Because of this, their memory easily stores numbers, diagrams, and those parts of events that may help in solving a particular problem, and the information that has no vital importance is simply “erased”.

Because of this, men often do not understand why women need to remember things like the first kiss or the date of engagement. 🙂 Furthermore, we could say that if the male memory is like a straight line, the female one resembles a spiral consisting of loops that tends to turn to the most trivial past events from time to time.

By the way, in most creative people, the associative, female type of memory is developed better, that is why they better remember colors, smells, and different nuances that most people don’t pay attention to.
