In the second half of 1960, American television stations had a series of programs featuring a young Israeli Uri Geller, who literally mesmerized the audience, demonstrating his paranormal ability to move metal objects using thoughts. Perhaps these old shows later inspired the Wachowski brothers to create the famous scene in “The Matrix” movie. Uri Geller could indeed make spoons and keys bend by a flick of his fingers and compass needle to rotate just by staring at it. Once he managed to stop the mechanical Big Ben clock in London with a simple mental effort. It looked as if in the beginning of a space era, humanity has finally witnessed a true case of telekinesis.
The power over metals and metal objects were not the only Geller’s ability. The psychic also (more…)
Deja vu is one of the little-known and mysterious phenomena of our psyche. Many people sometimes feel that a situation in their life has already been experienced before in all the details. But how and when? This phenomenon is called déjà vu, which in French means ‘already seen’. It is a condition in which a person feels that once he already experienced a situation of the present, but the feeling is not associated with a specific moment of the past, but refers to the past in general.
Deja vu is quite common. Psychologists believe that 97 % of people have experienced it at least once. Sometimes people are afraid of deja vu and worry about their mental health. What lies beyond human understanding, always frightens us.
The reasons that cause the phenomenon are still not clear. It might be caused by the processes in the parts of the brain associated with memory and perception. There is a hypothesis that sometimes the perceived information gets to the memory areas sooner than to the area of the primary analysis. Thus, the brain, comparing the situation with its ‘neurocopy’ already received by the memory, concludes that it already happened before. (more…)
Prophesying the future is a film genre that many of us prefer, including the movie Next starring Nicholas Cage in which he is capable of predicting a certain event within a few hours of its taking place. But do not believe that this only takes place on television, as in reality, everyone has this capability.
Through a study, American scientists now claim that human beings may have the ability to see the future. According to reports, this study may shock the world of science. Currently, University of Washington researchers are conducting a series of experiments to reveal the mystical acumen of the brain for prediction of everyday events.
This is not fortune-telling or superstition. This study will be of help to patients with neurological disorders such as early schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, mainly because in these diseases, patients suffer from long-term consciousness loss, resulting in mental disorders. This report shows that humans have the potential supernatural power and can perceive future events. Professor Daryl Bem at Cornell University in the United States conducted nine different experiments on more than 1,000 volunteers, and almost everyone demonstrated some sort of supernatural power.
In one experiment, the researchers asked students to remember a series of words, and then asked them to recall these words and to write down a few chosen words. Volunteers could easily (more…)
Intelligence emerged as a result of a genetic accident – this is the most common conclusion among researchers who study human evolution. Their studies would also have to answer why the brain remains, in spite of all the important tasks it performs, a sleeping giant since neurological research shows that we only use 5-7% of its potential.
Human intelligence is the result of a huge number of interconnected neural functions, producing manual dexterity, a highly sophisticated and clear stereoscopic vision, recognition and use of complex symbols (abstract thinking) and a very long memory. Nowadays, the predominant scientific view is that there are many degrees of complexity intelligence (some of which are present in all mammals) and that humans share with apes and dolphins a lot of characteristics that, until recently, were considered unique to human beings.
The difference between human and animal intelligence is given by the articulate language, responsible for the appearance of thinking, reasoning, imagination and long-term planning – all these processes appeared with the semantics and syntax of words and can be defined as “internal language processing”. In this context the most important product of the human brain is (more…)
