Are you one of those ambitious people who at the same love to just do nothing?

I am constantly torn between wanting to go out and conquer the world and having an extra hour or three in bed.

I am one of the most ambitious of people; I take on more work than necessary, study hard, and constantly dream of becoming an incredibly successful writer. Yet, I am also one of the laziest people that I know and have become known as The Girl Who Naps.

With so many dreams and such little motivation to get up and do things to get me to those dreams, I cannot imagine that I am the only one who has this problem.

If you are more than just a ‘doing what needs to be done’ person, whilst also being a person who needs more than 16 hours of sleep a day, then you will know these struggles as well as I do.

Here are the struggles of the ambitious people who love to do nothing at the same time:

1. We lack the ability to make plans that actually come to fruition

‘The best-laid plans often go awry’ is something that we have begun living our lives by. We have numerous bright ideas that would be incredible if they actually worked out, but getting off of our bottoms long enough to actually put the work into bringing them to life is almost impossible.

It takes a lot of time and a lot of effort for ambitious people who are naturally lazy to focus energies on actually getting the work done and it could take years for a plan to really come to life.

2. We have an excuse for everything

It never ceases to amaze me the excuses that I can come up with for why something isn’t done, or why I can’t be bothered to get ready and out of the house. We have an incredible ability to think on our feet and create excuses for why we haven’t got the things done that we were supposed to do and why we want to stay in bed for the next three hours.

3. We deserve a degree in procrastination

I can legitimately admit to wanting to finish the series of Gilmore Girls before I began my university paper. This is one of the most minor things I have done to procrastinate like a pro.

In the past, I have tidied my room, the kitchen, I’ve even gone as far as to clean my parent’s entire house before I managed to crack down and get some work done. Things that bore me suddenly become absolutely essential to finish earlier than the thing that has a deadline or importance in my education.

4. Toeing the line of careful eating and that box of cookies

As a lazy person, I am always tempted to eat when I’m being lazy. Something about ice cream and Netflix just goes together so perfectly.

As an ambitious person, I want to look like the girls I see in magazines and films. My compromise has developed into a careful eating regime that allows me to eat carefully so that I don’t have to go to the gym and still fit into my clothes.

If you fall into the category of ambitious people who are lazy at the same time, don’t worry, you are not alone.
